Samir Matloob is a neurosurgical trainee in London, and was previously a trainee representative. He is responsible for the creation of this website and the mailing list. He is keen on bringing together all those with an interest in neurosurgery to benefit from world-class speakers.
Greg James is Consultant Neurosurgeon at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and a Senior Lecturer at the UCL Institute of Child Health. He took over the reins as lead for Brain School in 2013. His special interests include craniofacial surgery and children’s cerebrovascular disease. He has an interest in medical education and is a medical school examiner, question writer for the FRCS and member of the London Neurosurgery TPMC.
Fahid Rasul is a neurosurgical trainee in London and has been attending Brain School since 2008. He wants to encourage wider participation in Brain school so that interested colleagues can take part in the excellent educational and social programme and contribute to the learning and training of the neurosurgical community.
Shami Acharya is a neurosurgical trainee in South London who first attended brain school as a foundation year doctor. She is keen to continue the educational and social link between the north and south of London. Shami is committed to sharing this unique forum to all those interested.
The Brain School Team
Lewis Thorne is Consultant Neurosurgeon at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. The founder of Brain School, Mr Thorne is still a regular presence at events. His clinical interests include neuro-oncology, hydrocephalus and trigeminal neuralgia, and he is an examiner for the Intercollegiate Fellowship Examination in Neurosurgery.
Mr Patrick Grover is a neurosurgical trainee in London, currently in his last year of training at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. He is a regular speaker in national and international neurosurgical scientific meetings and is also actively involved in training both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Patrick has been key in organising speakers throughout his training
Aswin is a Neurosurgical Trainee (North Thames Rotation) and Academic Clinical Fellow (Imperial College London). He is part of the publicity team at Brain School.
